Volaris seems like a cheap option to go between US/Mexico, and VivaAerobus seems like a cheap option within Mexico. They’re probably budget airlines though, which I’m always wary of using. I’ve been told to avoid Spirit/Frontier/Allegiant like the plague because they’re extremely unreliable and the customer service is unhelpful.

My options for nonstop flights are Viva Aerobus, Volaris, and Aeromexico. Normally I don’t like using budget airlines. However, Aeromexico is triple the cost for a worse time and doesn’t even include baggage. I searched old posts and find very mixed reviews on the other airlines.

Viva is the better airline overall. The boarding process is odd though, they load the plane from back to front so if your seats are closer to the front of the plane its possible you will miss the opp to store your carry on luggage in the overhead bins if you are bringing any.
